Hallo downtown_david, A new version 2.15 is in the works, with quite a few nice additions and more stability. Unfortunately, I am quite busy with my job at the moment so I keep postponing the release... I am very interested to hear about the bugs you have detected, to make sure they are treated. Take care,

Dear Budejda07, I am sorry for that. I think it is a false detection, due to the fact that Pablo is not a very widely used program, and therefore considered as suspicious by default. If you want to use Pablo, you may need to tell the antivirus to make an exception for it. (But I would not feel offended if you prefer to play it safe).

Dear Budejda07, I have looked into the issue. Indeed I made a change in the latest version which caused Pablo to be flagged as a virus. This should be fixed in new version 2.16a. To be clear: Pablo contains no virus, but since it is not a very widely used program, some antiviruses treat it as suspicious by default. Thanks for raising the issue and good luck with your learning Chinese!

Two disasters: the first was about a year ago, when Pablo stopped showing the strokes of characters one by one. This isn't always necessary -- but there are some characters I find difficult, so I always liked the fact that Pablo would show each character being written. The secone was today: I had a crash and had to reload everything -- and Lo! Pablo had a male voice. It was a little odd at first, getting some of the intonations wrong. then I hit one that got everything wrong, and I realized what was happening: you'e got a guy reading everything in Cantonese!
Please, please, just take down the last two versions of Pabo and put it back to where it was in 2019 while you do the corrections. We all need it out here in the world, but something has gone wrong back there in your study, and it's afright!
Good luck, thanks for al your good work -- and best wishes for getting things running again!

Dear FredFrog, an update is overdue, I agree, unfortunately I have been busy lately. Regarding the strokes drawing issue: could it be that the strokes data file has somehow been damaged? To check that, you could go to Pablo's 'data' directory and check the file called "strokeorderdata.dat". If it is missing or smaller than 2mbytes then this may be the cause. In that case, you can try the following: if you created some animations of your own, make a backup of the strokeorderdata file. Then delete the file completely and reinstall Pablo (in the same directory). strokeorderdata should be recreated. Regarding the voice issue: Pablo is dumb regarding voice selection: it simply picks the first voice it finds on the system which supports Chinese. In your case, it seems that the first candidate voice is a Cantonese one. At some point I may add a way to select the voice manually (it is the case in Pingrid already). Until then, I guess there is no choice but disable the Cantonese voice in the Windows settings. I hope this can help you in the short run.
